Algonquin Preschool News
September 2018

We hope you had a wonderful summer.  The first few weeks of preschool are full of new experiences and can be very emotional for children and parents. Your child will settle into the routine of preschool with time.  Please reassure your child that it’s okay to be nervous.  Those feelings will soon give way to “look what I did at preschool today!”  Let them know you are glad they are accomplishing tasks on their own.  This shows your child you are confident in their ability to do activities independently.  We will let you know how your child is doing.  You are always welcome to call and check on your child at any time.  We will always be honest with you as to how they are doing at school.

At preschool, each child will become involved in activities that will develop positive feelings, independent skills, and opportunities to experiment, create, and socialize.  This school experience is a link toward the next step which will include longer separation and more complex social/learning experiences.

We are looking forward to a fun and positive learning year!

Reminders:

~Parents are welcome to volunteer in various ways.  A few examples would be; make playdough, read a story, share a talent, help with special projects, go on a walk with the class, and chaperone on a park visit.

~Tuition is due on the 10th of every month.  We will send home the tuition envelope on your child’s communication clip.  Please put you payment in the envelope and return the envelope on the communication clip.

~ Make sure your child goes to the bathroom before he/she comes to school.  This will help our circle time in the beginning of class

~ Please leave your child’s communication clip on his/her school bag.  We use this clip to send and receive information.

~ Please send your child in clothes that they can get messy in.  Gym shoe are the best shoes to wear at preschool.  They protect your child’s feet and they can run much better in them.

~Remember to send in one small snack & a drink with your child.  Please label the container with your child’s name.

~ Special treats may be brought in to celebrate a birthday or special occasion in your child’s life.  These treats should be pre-packaged and individually wrapped and will be sent home with your child’s classmates.  Please do not send in balloons as they are a safety hazard.

~When you walk your child in please make sure they wash their hands before entering their classroom.  This is a DCFS requirement.  Thank you!

~Remember to sign your child in/out when you come in to drop off/pick up.  (This is also a DCFS requirement.) The sign in/out sheet is located in the entrance on a small table.  If you are using the drive thru a teacher will bring the sign out sheet to you.

~Family Fun night is on Friday, October 12th- from 5:30-8:00.  Come join us for fun art, science, sensory activities and games.  This night will be fun for the whole family.  Hope you can make it!

~Book Drive- We will be collecting gently used books for our 5th Annual Book Sale that will be held at our Family Fun Night.  If you have any books you would like to donate please drop them off in the office October 1st-October 12th.
